Sasan Gir

The Gir Forest National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary also known as Sasan-Gir, in Gujarat, India. Established in 1965, with a total area of 1,412 km, the park is located 43 km north-east of Somnath, 65 km south-east of Junagadh and 60 km south-west of Amreli.It is the sole home of the Asiatic lions and is considered to be one of the most important protected areas in Asia due to its supported species.The ecosystem of Gir, with its diverse flora and fauna, is protected as a result of the efforts of the government forest department, wildlife activists and NGOs.

Girnar Ropeway (Udan Khatola)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Girnar Ropeway in Gujarat, which has become Asia’s longest ropeway. The ropeway has been constructed on Mount Girnar in Junagadh District, which is a major tourist attraction in Gujarat because of the presence of pilgrim sites such as Amba Temple, the Dattatreya Shrine, and many other Hindu templesas. Gir Jungle Safari

At Sasan, a thoughtfully developed and well-managed ecotourism is in function, with properly assigned trails and routes in Dedakadi and Sasan Ranges. Such routes have been made within the tourism zone of the Sanctuary with an average length of 35 km each. Each of the routes encompasses almost all habitat types of Gir region and facilitates wildlife sightings with a considerable ease. Artificial water-holes along the routes increase the probability of wildlife sightings. Private open Gypsies, registered by the Forest Department are available locally along with the well-trained local Guide.

To reduce the disturbance from tourism in the main sanctuary area, and to facilitate tourists to understand the importance of Gir and its wildlife, an interpretation zone has been created at Devalia. This comprises 412 ha of chain-link fenced area which is ‘Gir in a nutshell’, covering all habitat types and all major representatives of wildlife of Gir. The basic aim of creating this facility is to provide an opportunity to view lions and other animals in their natural habitat within a short period and reduce tourist pressure on the sanctuary. The area has a good quantity of prey base in the form of Spotted Deers, Blue Bulls, Wild Boars, Blackbucks, Sambars and Chinkaras. Spotting a Lion in its savanna habitat is a treat to the eyes for a wildlife.

The Ambardi Safari Park is established in 2017 and span over area of 365.11 ha and situated 7 kms from Dhari, is a Reserved Forest (RF) of Gir Protected Area on the bank of Shetrunji river near Ambardi village. Its undulating terrain, proximity to a large water reservoir and Khodiyar temple make Ambardi a place worth visiting.

Shri Kanakai Mataji Temple

In the heart of the jungle, 50 km from Sasan Gir, there is a shrine to Kankai Mata, the benefactor of the shepherds of Gir forest. A supremely wild place, here you can hear lions roar at night and animals gathering at the nearby lake. There is a bus from Junagadh every morning that leaves at 8am, stays one hour at the temple, and departs on the return journey at 9:45am. But to really experience the place, go with private transport and stay the night. The high temple walls ensure your safety, and once night falls, you can watch the stars through the jungle treetops, hear lions roaming outside and experience a night in the true wilderness.

Tulshi Shyam Temple

Tulsi Shyam Temple is situated near by Junagadh district and Amreli district of Gujarat state. This temple is of Lord Vishnu-Lord Shyam. It is said that The statue of Lord Tulsi Shyam is 3000 years old.The environment of temple is very peace and peoples love to sit silently for some time. There are mainly three hot water springs in Tulsi Shyam and each of this spring has unique boiling water.

Gir Mountain

The Girnar Mountain is situated at 4 km east of Junagadh District. It is 1100 m high and its main attractions comprise of the Jain Temples situated on its hilltop. These Jain Temples were built between the years of 1128 and 1500..It is famous place as well as pilgrimage spot for Hindus and Jains.Also there are various temples which are located around Girnar Hills. Junagadh Zoo

The Junagadh Zoo is situated in the Junagadh district and is mainly known for its Gir lions. This zoo was built by Nawab in 1863 with the motive of saving these lions from extinction. Now, this zoo has turned into an established safari park. This park will somehow provide you a small glimpse of the Sasan Gir Wildlife Sanctuary through its surroundings as well as through its collection of wildlife. Its main species of fauna comprises lions, leopards and tigers. It also houses a well maintained museum that has on display several paintings, archaeological findings and manuscripts along with a unique history section.

Darbar Hall Museum

The Darbar Hall Museum is situated near the Diwan Chowk in the old Palace and preserves some of the rarest items of the erstwhile Nawabs. These items include weapons, armour, chandeliers, howdahs and palanquins. A collection of thrones, silver articles, paintings, costumes and tapestries is also at display in this museum. The carpet woven in Junagadh's jail is also present here. Pictures of the Nawabs in the form of a gallery of their royal portraits are also a part of this museum.


The Kamleshwar Dam is situated within the Sasan-Gir National Park, in its very centre. This dam is built over one of the seven rivers that drain in the area of Gir Sanctuary. These rivers include Shingoda, Raval, Godavari, Macchundri, Hiran, Datardi and Saraswati. Kamleshwar Dam is built over Hiran River. It is also referred to as the life line of Gir. It is the breeding site of marsh crocodiles of Gir along with being the halt point of many species of birds. Approximate Distance from Daksh Resort – 27.1 KM Kamleshwar Dam.

Somnath Temple

Somnath temple is one of the famous temples in Gujarat which is located 46km from Sasan Gir. The Somnath temple is one of the richest temples of ancient India which is the most popular and ancient Hindu religious temple of India. Somnath temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines of the God Shiva and known places near gir. Somnath is considered to be first among the other twelve holy Shiva Jyotirlings.

Chorwad Beach

Chorwad Beach is situated at a distance 37 kms from Somnath, Chorwad Beach was imperial fort of the Nawab of Junagarh. The beach is very clean and it is not safe for swimming and also good for relaxing.It is well-known among tourists for rides of boat. It is also one of the famous place near gir. It is scattered with rocky hills, and the beach is a gateway for Porbandar and Somnath, which are prominent for their significant and spiritual implication.

Nagoa Beach (Diu)

Nagao Beach is a town in Diu district, India, on the edge of the Junagadh district. The town's main industry is tourism, and it has 21 kilometres of coastline. The population is 14,000 but about 40,000 tourists enter the town during peak seasons.
